What Can I Do to Earn AK$?

Different ways for members to contribute and earn AK$

WAIIC is an active and vibrant community, and can remain one only if members continue to be active and contribute.  As an acknowledgement and recognition of members' participation and contribution, AK$ are awarded. Here is a summary of the different ways that members can contribute, and earn AK$.

(1) WAIIC Exco
WAIIC Exco members are volunteers who put in time and effort to organise WAIIC Club Meetings, including scheduling Teams for Stock Presentations, looking for speakers for Learning Topics and Market Updates, and generally managing the Club and its activities.  For each month that a WAIIC Club Meeting is successfully organised, each contributing WAIIC Exco member will get AK$100. At the end of the year, each WAIIC Exco member would have AK$1200, which is the equivalent of 10 years of WAIIC Membership.
(Note: Exco members will NOT be awarded additional AK$ for additional contributions such as presenting Market Update, Learning Topic, Team Leader, Stock Presentation or Momentum Presentation.)

(2) Stock Presentations (WA 10 Steps)
Stock Presentations are the main activity at each WAIIC Club Meeting. Each month, 3 to 5 Teams are scheduled, and AK$ are awarded for each Stock Presentation as follows:

4 Stars150908030
5 Stars1801208060

Voted Best Presenter - AK$80 (only when there are at least 3 Presentations)
Voted Runner-Up - AK$60 (only when there are at least 5 Presentations)
Voted 5-Star - AK$60 (for all contributing Team members)
Voted 4-Star - AK$30 (for all contributing Team members)
Voted 3-Star or below - AK$0

The AK$ awards are allowed to be added or stacked.  For example, the Team Leader is the one who does a Stock Presentation, he is voted Best Presenter, and the Stock is voted 5-Star.  In such a case, he will be awarded AK$340.

Team Leader     - AK$120
Presenter          - AK$  80
Best Presenter - AK$  80
5-Star               - AK$  60
Total                   AK$340

(3) Success Story for Stock Presentations (WA 10 Steps)
If the Stock does well after a Stock Presentation, the Team may wish to present the Stock as a Success Story.  The stock must meet the following criteria in order to qualify as a Success Story:
(a) Be presented not earlier than 6 months, and not later than 24 months ago
(b) Teams must identify Entry and Exit points during the 6mths-24 months period, and state the Profit made, either in terms of Percecntage(%) or Risk (R)
(c) The Team should also review the WA10 Steps, comparing the WA10 Steps at the point of Stock Presentation 6-24 months ago, and the current WA10Steps

If a Team feels that their Stock can be considered a Success Story, they will send their Success Story PPT to the Portfolio Chair.  The Portfolio Chair, or Portfolio Sub-Comm, will review the PPT, and decided on whether the Stock meets the criteria for Success Story.  The Portfolio Chair may advise the Team to make amendments to their PPT if necessary.

If selected to present as a Success Story, the Team will be awarded the same AK$ as a Stock Presentation:
Team Leader - AK$120
Dy Team Leader - AK$60
Presenter   - AK$80
Voted Best Presenter - AK$80 (only when there are at least 3 Presentations)
Voted Runner-Up - AK$60 (only when there are at least 5 Presentations)
Voted 5-Star - AK$60 (for all contributing Team members)
Voted 4-Star - AK$30 (for all contributing Team members)
Voted 3-Star or below - AK$0

(4) Momentum Long / Short Presentations (by Individuals)
Momentum Long / Short Presentations are short (4mins) presentations suitable for individuals to present. The presenter is awarded AK$40 for the presentation effort, plus the 4-Star or 5-Star vote. If it is deemed that the trade does not have a valid Setup, then no AK$ will be awarded.

Voted 5-Star - AK$60
Voted 4-Star - AK$30
Voted 3-Star or below - AK$0

(5) Learning Topic Speaker / Market Update Presenter/Minutes-Taker / Photographer
Each month, there are slots for Learning Topic Speaker as well as Market Update Presenter.

Market Update Presenter - AK80 (after uploading PPT)
Minutes-Taker        - AK$40 (upload Minutes within 3 days)
Photograper           - AK$40 (upload Photographs within 3 days)

(6) Membership/Portfolio/Learning Sub-Comm
If the Membership Chair, Portfolio Chair or Learning Chair finds that his scope of work is large, he may recruit Sub-Comm members to help him.  For each month of effort, the Sub-Comm member is awarded AK$40.

Sub-Comm member - AK$40 (for each month of effort)

AK$ awarded to Team Leaders, Dy TL, Presenter, Sub-Comm, Learning Topic Speaker, Market Update Presenter can be added or stacked.  Thus a very active member can play more than one role, or do several tasks and end up with AK$200 or more. The only exception is for Exco members. When an Exco member takes on additional tasks such as Team Leaders, Dy TL, Presenter, Learning Topic Speaker, or Market Update Presenter, he will not be awarded any extra AK$ on top of the AK$100 for Exco members.

(7) Play Momentum Trend Trading (MTT) and Value Momentum Investing (VMI) Games
Profits from Momentum Trend Trading (MTT) and Value Momentum Investing (VMI) Games can be converted to AK$ at the end of each month (for MTT) or year (for VMI).  Click on the link below to learn more about the Momentum Trend Trading Game.

Value Momentum Investing (VMI) Game is currently under development, and scheduled to be ready by Apr/May 2019.

In conclusion, there are many ways a member can earn some AK$ to offset his annual membership fee. The purpose of awarding AK$ is to encourage active members to participate and contribute, and to retain such active members in WAIIC.  Conversely, WAIIC may not even want to renew the membership of inactive members.  It is estimated that about one-third of WAIIC members renew their membership each year with only AK$, and another one-third pays only half their membership fee or less in cash. So be one of those who are active, participate and contribute, and save on membership fees!
