What is Membership Process ?

WAIIC Membership is unique when compared to membership in other clubs. While membership may have privileges in other clubs, WAIIC Membership itself is a privilege. WAIIC members not only have to pay membership fees to join WAIIC, they have to continue to participate and contribute in order to have their Membership renewed in the following years.

The diagram above summarise the overall WAIIC Membership process.

Guest Members
Upon completing the WA Course, all WA graduates are given 1 month of Guest Membership. As Guest members, they can access WAIIC Website and check out the resources available such as the automated WA10 Steps calculator, blogs, Photo Galleries etc. Guest members can access all of WAIIC resources except for two restrictions, namely:
- Guest members are not able to download PPT slides on Stock Presentations, and
- Guest members are not able to place trade in MTTG and VMIG.

Guest members are also invited to attend one WAIIC Club Meeting. In fact, Guest members are encouraged NOT to join WAIIC until they have attended a WAIIC Club Meeting. At the WAIIC Club Meeting, they will see and experience for themselves that WAIIC is run and managed by volunteers. They will understand that in order for WAIIC to continue, each and every member must be committed to participate and contribute. There is no place for 'passive' members who just want to sit back, and relax, and enjoy the work done by other members without contributing or participating.

ONLINE Member
Once a Guest member decides to join WAIIC, he will be placed on ONLINE Membership Scheme. Under ONLINE Membership the member is not participating nor contributing. Except for first year ONLINE Members (also known as Freshmen), the membership fees for ONLINE Members is twice that of Normal(PCTM) members. An ONLINE Member must join a Team in order to be transferred to the Normal(PCTM) membership.

Normal(PCTM) Member
Upon joining a Team, the member will be transferred to the Normal(PCTM) Membership, where PCTM stands for Participating, Contributing Team Member. Teams are routinely scheduled for Stock Presentations. We strongly believe that the member will greatly benefit from team discussions and preparations. The member is also awarded AK$ for his contribution and participation. These AK$ can be used to offset membership renewal fees.

'Expired' Member
Members who do not renew their membership and allow their membership to expire will be transferred to 'Expired' member category.
'Expired' member are allowed to rejoin WAIIC by paying the membership fee.

Membership Renewal Status (Zone Classification)
For the purposes of membership renewal, membership status are classified onto 4 Zones, namely GREEN, YELLOW, ORANGE and RED.
GREEN Zone members are welcome to renew their Membership.
YELLOW Zone members are able to renew only if they have the support of their Team Leader.
ORANGE Zone members must join a Team before they can rejoin.
RED Zone members are not allowed to rejoin.

Note: In Jan 2016, we implemented the automatic transfer of ORANGE and RED Zone members to ONLINE Membership scheme. This eliminated the need to monitor/persuade/encourage Normal(PCTM) members on the need to join a Team.

Restrictions on Membership Renewal
A member can only be allowed to renew his WAIIC Membership only when he has 3 months (or less) of membership left. When he renews his membership, he is only allowed to renew for 1 year. WAIIC needs to keep only active and contributing members. So do not want members who pay for several years of WAIIC membership, and then become passive and inactive.

Membership Renewal for Normal(PCTM) Members
Normal(PCTM) members are classified into GREEN and YELLOW Zones.
GREEN Zone members are active members, who contributes and attends Club Meetings regularly. Membership renewal for GREEN Zone members is welcome.
YELLOW Zone Member are members who has joined a Team, but may not be contributing (AK$ = 0) or may not be attending WAIIC Club Meetings regularly. Membership renewal for YELLOW Zone members depends on Team Leader’s recommendation.

Membership Renewal for ONLINE Members
Membership Renewal for ONLINE Members is much more straightforward. The member simply pays the membership fee AK$120/US$120 for 6 months.

Transferred from Normal(PCTM) to ONLINE Membership
There are several situations where a member might find himself transferred from Normal(PCTM) to ONLINE Membership.
(1) Team Disbanded. When a Team, all members are now without a Team, and will be transferred to ONLINE Membership.
(2) Team Leader's Membership Expired. Should a Team Leader allow his membership to expire, the Team is now left with a Team Leader. In such cases, the Deputy Team Leader or another member may be appointed as Team Leader. Should there be no one willing to take over as Team Leader, the Team will be disbanded, and all members transferred to ONLINE Membership.
(3) Kicked out of Team. The Team Leader has the right to remove passive or non-contributing members from his Team. When a member is 'kicked out' from his Team by the Team Leader, he will be transferred to ONLINE Membership.
(4) Resign from Team. A member who is not happy with his Team or Team Leader has the choice to resign and leave the Team. Upon resigning or leaving the Team, he will be transferred to ONLINE Membership where he is free to apply to join othar Teams.
(5) Membership Expired. Members must renew their membership yearly. When a member allows his membership to expire, two situations can happen.
(a) Zero AK$. If the member has zero AK$, he will be transferred to 'Expired Membership'. He will not be allowed to access WAIIC Website nor attend WAIIC Club Meetings until he re-joins WAIIC.
(b) AK$ > 0. If the member has a positive AK$ balance, then AK$20 will be deducted from his account, and he is transferred to ONLINE Membership with a new Membership Expiry date 1 month later. This process will repeat when the new membership expiration date is reached, until the member's AK$ is zero.

Remaining Membership Term is Halved when Member is Transferred from Normal(PCTM) to ONLINE Membership
The Membership fee for Normal(PCTM) membership is AK$120/US$120 for 12 months.
The Membership fee for ONLINE membership is AK$120/US$120 for 6 months, i.e. twice that for Normal(PCTM) membership. When a member is transferred from Normal(PCTM) to ONLINE Membership, his remaining membership term is halved to reflect this.

Remaining Membership Term is Doubled when Rejoining Normal(PCTM) to ONLINE Membership
When a ONLINE member successfully joins a Team, he will be transferred back to Normal(PCTM) Membership. His remaining membership term is doubled, since ONLINE Membership is twice that of Normal(PCTM) membership.
